Submission Guidelines

At Makyn Press, we are dedicated to publishing bold, original voices in a variety of genres. Whether you’re a debut author or an established voice, we welcome your submissions. Please carefully read the guidelines below before submitting your manuscript.

What We Publish

Makyn Press accepts work in the following categories:

• Fiction (Literary, Speculative, Historical, Contemporary, etc.)
• Non-fiction (Memoir, Essay, Biography, Instructional, etc.)
• Poetry Collections
• Hybrid and Mixed Media Manuscripts
• Illustrated Works (if text-driven)
• Educational/Instructional Books in the Arts

We currently do not accept:

• Erotica
• Fan fiction
• AI-generated content (unless disclosed and with human oversight)

What to Include in Your Submission

Please prepare the following items:

1. Cover Letter
   Introduce yourself and your work. A brief, professional query is preferred.
2. Synopsis or Summary
   1–2 paragraphs outlining the premise, themes, and outcome (if applicable).
3. Full Manuscript (or First 3 Chapters + Outline)
   • Attach as a PDF or DOCX
   • Double-spaced, 12pt font, standard margins
4. Author Bio
   Include a short paragraph about you, your writing experience, and any relevant publishing history.
5. Word Count or Page Count
   Be clear and accurate.
6. Genre/Category
   Let us know how to classify your work.
7. Target Audience
   Who is this book written for?

Response Time

We strive to respond within 6–8 weeks, though times may vary depending on volume. If you haven’t heard back after 10 weeks, you’re welcome to send a brief follow-up.

Rights & Originality

By submitting, you confirm:

• You are the original creator and rights holder of the work.
• The manuscript has not been previously published in full (unless disclosed).
• The submission complies with all terms set forth in these guidelines.
• AI-assisted content (if any) is clearly disclosed and limited to secondary roles.

If your work is accepted, we’ll contact you with details about the next steps, including:

• Editorial process
• Publishing timeline
• Rights agreement and royalties
